Got to NPR's Storycorps: Recording America. Read at least five narratives. The text structures are a bit more complex than those structures evident in This I Believe essays. This is a threefold task.
First, analyze the elements of the text structures. What is the connection between text structure and author's purpose?
Second, identify all the speakers.
Third, choose your favorite essay. You will use this essay as a model.

This I Believe
Check out the essays on NPR's This I Believe. Read as many as you wish (but at least 3). Choose your favorite. Beyond focusing on the message, what is it about the text structure that makes your favorite essay effective? Use your favorite essay as a model for your own I Believe Essay.
