Primary Source Interpretation/Analysis INTERPRETATION: 1. Who: Abraham Lincoln What: His Second Inaugural Address When:1865 WHO: Abraham Lincoln, WHAT: Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address Where: Washington, D.C. Why:Tradition; it represents their starting in the position of The President of the United States of America. 2. Abraham Lincoln presented his second inaugural address on March 4, 1865, during his inauguration at the start of his second term as President of the United States. Lincoln did not speak of happiness, but of sadness, and really focused on how horrible the war was. He also really made sure the audience knew that White's were no different than Blacks, but that people were people. I believe that Abraham Lincoln was instrumental to the end of slavery and the normalization of mixed race civilization. 3. " All dreaded it,[the war] all sought to avert it." I think what this excerpt means to me is that none wanted to partake in the upcoming war over slavery, and everyone wanted to avoid it. I think this is special to me because it shows how unwanted the war was, an idea that I agree with.
4. Why does Lincoln focus on what happened with the war, but instead show the people how he can be a good and skilled leader? 5. I think that this document helped me understand a little more about the personality of our past president and really see the virtues he had.

Primary Source Interpretation/Analysis
INTERPRETATION:
3. " All dreaded it,[the war] all sought to avert it."
I think what this excerpt means to me is that none wanted to partake in the upcoming war over slavery, and everyone wanted to avoid it.
